Every company’s/team’s culture is the collective set of the ways they belong, plus the technical ways in how they get sh!# done. What gets, rewarded, tolerated, and reinforced, reveals the company’s/team’s values across these 6 areas in the ways we: Belong, Believe, Live Values, Join Stories, Practice, and Grow.
No one puts their everything into their work towards fulfilling the company’s purpose unless they first belong. Belonging is essential for your people to flourish and hold resiliently together to deliver on your company's shared belief in its purpose.
In this seminar, we’ll explore the 6 key areas of belonging in your company or team culture. And how you can set things up in your company to get 6, “yes, I belong, I believe…” affirmation statements with your people so they’ll naturally land in high performance.
Here’s the working definition belonging for the context and target for this seminar:
Belonging's where you feel, own, and care for them, your teammates, and leaders in their successes, dreams, and failures. And they feel, own, and care for you in yours.
Belonging is core to everything when it comes to your company’s performance. If they work at your company, belonging matters. And that’s regardless of if they’re an individual contributor, manager, or leader at any level, and for that matter, a contractor. And if you’re the CEO or founder, you’ve gotta belong big time. By the nature of your position, you influence everybody, whether you like it or not. Oh, and if they’re a customer of yours, belonging matters there too.
Everybody’s brain has to belong. It’s basic neurobiology. When we don’t belong, we fear more and exist in a state of fight/flight. But when we do (belong across these 6 areas), we fear less and move from fight/flight into, unite and fight together. That’s the deal.
How we really changed the world. We feared less together and aspired even more. In our shared aspiration, we brought our unlimited power into play as a company.
